Formula in a range to add of letter codes

    Hi Everyone...

I have a problem with a formula for a range of cells. I have few codes that I use to tell me what type of errors are made. However I need to know the total amount of times these codes are used in a perticular range of cells. How can I change this formula "=COUNTIF($K16:$K500,"OP")" To work with all my other codes to get the total amount used. My codes are OP,PT,PN,UP,NP,NP OR is there another way to add the times all these codes appears in a range of cells?

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike,

    Hi,

If you put your different codes in A1:A6, then in A2

    =COUNTIF($K$14:$K$498,A1) copy down

    Sumproduct...

    You can use:
    =SUMPRODUCT(--(K1:K500="op") + (K1:K500="pt")) +++

Formula in a range to add of letter codes

If you want to count the number of times
ALL of those codes appear in K16:k500
    try this:

    With
    K1: Codes
    K2: OP
    K3: PT
    K4: PN
    K5: PU
    K6: NP

This formula returns the total count of those items:
