Find a match in range and act upon it

How the can I do this?

If text in cell A2 = text in range A6:A281 then grab adjescent data value and paste in original cell.

For example: If cell A2 matched with cell A131 then grab data from B131 and paste it in cell that the formula was writen.

Ah okay, I forgot to mention that the range is in another workbook. I don't think vlookup function will work across workbooks. Any way around this?

    Hi,

It should work fine across workbooks.

    =VLOOKUP(A2,'[My Workbook]My Sheet'!$A$6:$B$281,2,False)

    HTH
