Based on your example, your two lists are in 2 rows and not in 2 columns? If that's the case, in the next row, (assume your lists are in rows 1 and 2),
Please Login or Register to view this content.
and drag that to the right.

Then go to Data Sort and set it to accending and set the options to left to right. That will put all your false values (or non-matches) first. The second row from A to wherever the Falses end will be your unique values in Row 2. Repeat with Row 1.

Is that what you are looking for?

    i have 2 sheets

sheet 1: have a tables these tables are a student semester in each semester it written the courses he took and besides these tables there is a small table for the extra courses he took which is not in one of these semester tables

Might there be duplicates in the same column?
Otherwise there is a solution at http://www.cpearson.com/excel/ListFunctions.aspx
under Extracting Elements From One List Not On Another List

WoW thankx man it's working now but there is 1 tiny thing

ok after i put the extra courses when i change the student ID and put another student ID the extra courses for the new ID should appear

    but it's not?????

even though i put the $ between the cell name (absolute references)

is there a way to make a connection beween the 2 cell so when i put a new ID it should change in the extra courses cell

    ...

    This might help (see attachment).
I had to shorten the input range to meet the attachment limitations.
Sheet3 is just a test but might be useful.
