    remove trailing characters from number

I have received the following example from users

    1500.54dr
    3456.23cr
    43.23
    12456.23cr
    566.00
    2.22
    5.55
    5.55cr

They should have sent me the number only but instead sent me information on the end of the number indicating if it is a debit of credit. How can I remove quickly with formula as I have about 5,000 that need to be fixed so I can run a calculation? (note: some of the numbers are correct so I don't need to to anything).

    Thanks,

You could do two quick find/replace:

    Highlight the entire column in question (or the range of cells);

    Control-H

    Find: dr
    Replace:

    Click 'Replace All'

    then...

    Find: cr
    Replace:

    Click 'Replace All'

In both cases, leave the Replace field totally blank; that should remove the letters wherever it finds them.

How simple is that. I was trying to write a formula and making it too complex for myself. Thanks.
