    inserting Dates

    \1

See above spreadsheet (some data has been blanked out for data protection)

I have column L formatted as a validation list with two options 'Open' and 'Closed'. What I want to happen, is when I select closed from the list, the "Date Closed" cell to the right (column m) changes to the date that Closed was entered, and does not change thereafter.

As you can see in the pic, all the close out dates are todays date. . . I need it to store the date it was closed, and not constantly update it.

    Someone help me pleassee!!!

    Thanks

Sorry can't see the image, its to small. Can't you post a zipped spreadsheet here?

To post a zipped example, go to “My Documents” or wherever you have your file stored, right-click and “Send to > Compressed file”, then attach this zipped file to your post.

    Hi,

you will need a macro to fix a date, take a look at this link and suggestion from shg

Pasted that in and it does nothing. Do i have to amend it to suit the cells i need?

Also i only want the date to appear when "Closed" is selected.

When open is selected I want it to appear blank

    Hi,

Macro's are not my expertise, but yes the code used there does need to be modified to suit your sheet, I'll drop a link to this and ask shg to take a look - he's not on line at present but I'm sure will be later
