Do you mean to search the last cell with a value in a column?
In this case there are multiple possibilities here

Assuming the values are numeric (implied by your COUNT comment) then:
=LOOKUP(9.99999999999999E+307,A1:A65536,ROW(1:65536))
where A is column in question - should return row position of last cell containing a number.
(assumes pre 07 in terms of possible row range)
