    Hi guys,

I have a list of 4 cells which only one will b populated at any given time. I am looking for a formula which will display in a nother cell the heading of which ever column has been populated.

    e.g.

    A B C D
    CM
    EMF
    IG
    UA

in a searate cell for each of the rows above i want the column name i.e. abc or d to be populated when one of the rows is populated.

    can anyone help?

Hi Steve thanks for the response however its not doing what i am looking to achieve.

What i want is if either column c, d, e or f have a value in it i want the heading of that column (which is a name) to appear in colum a of the same row. Will Hlookup work? even though i dont no what the value will be??
