    IF/VLOOKUP help

Hi, I'm looking for some help perhaps using the VLOOKUP function but I am not sure if another function would be more helpful.

To briefly explain I am trying to set up a spreadsheet which automatically calculates the start and end dates of project tasks, by looking at the order in which tasks need to be completed.

I have attached a spreadsheet to show what I am trying to do.

    Thanks for you help,

    Andrew

    Re: IF/VLOOKUP help

Will this in E8, copied down accomplish the task?

    =LOOKUP(C8,$A$7:$F$21)
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Re: IF/VLOOKUP help

You could have also used Vlookup()

    =VLOOKUP(C8,$A$7:$F$21,6,TRUE)

but Lookup() works just as well and you don't need to define the column number, you just need to know the first and last column and you need to be sure the first column is in ascending order....
