    Date constant doesn't work?

    I can't use a date constant on a formula.
    For example these value and formulas in the cells A1:A3:
    10/5/2009
    =A1>9/4/2008
    =A1>11/6/2010
    Show these results:
    10/5/2009
    TRUE
    TRUE
    Why isn't A3 FALSE?

    Thanks,
    Stefano

    Written that way, Excel sees the dates as actual arithmetic ie. 11 divided by 4 divided by 2008

    to convert you could make it a text string and add 0 to actually convert it to a date serial number

    e.g.

    =A1>"9/4/2008"+0

    or use Date() function

    =A1>Date(2008,9,4)
    Where there is a will there are many ways.
