    lookup in a range

I have a workseet we use for scheduling where column A is the start times. Column B thru G are where wee key in the names of the employees. There are 7 sheets (one for every day of the week). I want to add an eighth sheet with the list of the employee's names in Column A and have Column B labeled Sunday, Column C Monday etc. I want to then Lookup the name in sheet8!A1sheet1 and return the start time. The problem is that the name may appear anywhere in the range sheet1!B1:G20. I tried VLookup but obviously that doesn't work since I am not looking up the value in the first colum. Am i missing something here?

    Thanks
    Ron

I have included a sample of my file and used what you suggested but still can not get the Match function to search multiple column. If you look at sheet 2 all the employee should have a time in cloumn B.

    Thanks

Don't arrange your data like that. Put each employees name in col B, and their start time in col A.

Or vice versa, and then you can use VLOOKUP.

    Re: lookup in a range

The problem is that I need to have the sheet set up with the times in cloumn A and the names in column B thru H. I have 200 employees and if I put every person on a seperate Row my schedul will not fit on one page.

    Thanks
    Ron
