See attached. I want to use column A to create column B (the expected result) by way of a formula. Index?
Thanks,

Doesn't make sense I'm afraid... you're trying to do what exactly ?
If A contains values it can not contain a formula simultaneously...

Sorry...Column B is the expected result. Say I just have A and I want to see something that looks like column B. You could put the answer in another column (e.g., C, D, E...).

Oh I see, so you wish to generate a condensed list... well the approach you adopt will invariably depend upon the amount of data you have, if there's not much as in the case of your sample...

If you can return the values in numerical sequence that's better as you can then use SMALL and avoid the inefficiencies of the above approach (the above is no better than a CSE Array IMO, I illustrate only as it is perhaps a little more robust from end-user perspective)Please Login or Register to view this content.
What am I doing wrong? I moved the count that was in C1 to E1 and put the expected result in column C. You can see that column B does not have the expected result (see new attachment).
And yes, SMALL won't work because the data will be in time sequence. Never more than 300 records, so it's a small enough sample size. Thanks.

You've not done anything wrong, the formula I provided did not anticipate duplicity of results (ie 2 appearing twice)... in this case easier to revert to more traditional Array
