    Formatting Text to Date

Here are examples of what's in the Date Column imported from another system.

    2009/1/4 09:01 AM
    2009/12/5 04:34 AM
    2009/3/20 09:00 AM
    2009/10/29 04:00 AM

Excel sees the above as text and I need to change them to an acceptable Date & Time format that Excel recognizes. I'm guessing that the only thing that could help is VBA but I'm not familiar enough with that.

Anyone out there that can help me?

    Thanks.

Try selecting the column.. go to Data|Text to Column... select Delimited and click Finish.

    Re: Formatting Text to Date

    1) Select the column of data
    2) Select DATA > TEXT TO COLUMNS > Delimited > NEXT > NEXT
    3) On Step 3 of 3, look in the Column Data Format section (upper right) and select Date: YMD (or whatever is correct)
    4) Click OK

The YMD selection tells Excel how to read the data, then it will convert to your default display settings as Excel Date/Time values.

Thanks. The Delimited - Date: YMD worked. And, it was SOO easy. You learn something everyday. Thanks again.
