    a formula to extend series

    Hi Guys,

I was trying to set yp a formula that will automaticaly extend a series.
I mean will add a sequential number to the one above.

    If I have in cell A1: CD001
I want to place a formula that will show me: CD002 in cell A2.

I tried n function but it only converts it to the number and comes uout as 0.

I don't know which one to use if there is any.

Answer to the first question I will probably be asked:
No I cannot drag it down with a mouse as I will place it in the conditional function afterall.

If anyone has any idea please help me out.

    Thanks for reading this thread.
    Simon

Do you have manual calculations on?

Go to Tools|Options and in Calculation tab, select Automatic to turn on.

In 2007, go to Office Button, click Excel Options, Select Formulas in left pane and select Automatic from top section on right pane...

Re: a formula to extend series

I noted you edited your last post... please don't do that.. it makes subsequent post look at of context....

Just for future help seekers.. you had originally said that it worked for the first entry, but when you copied down it repeated the same CD002 all the way down... then I responded as above... and it seems that worked based on your revision....

    Yes NBVC,

I noticed straight away what a mistake I have made (with the calculation) and edited the post within a minute from sending it. Sorry for this.

    Thank you for your help.
