We use an excel spreadsheet in the office and are wondering if it is possible for numerous people to be working on it at the samw time, and are able to save their work, ie not read only mode.
Guessing not, but figured I'd ask.

Hello kimbcroc,
welcome to the forum.
Yes, you can do that. It's called sharing a workbook. But shared workbooks are extremely unstable, can freeze up any time and are prone to lose data. If you're happy to take this risk, then
Open the workbook as the only current user
click Tools - Share Workbook
Tick the box "Allow changes by more than one user ..."
Click the Advanced tab and adjust the settings there to your preferences.
click OK and save the workbook.
Now several users can access it and save changes at the same time.
Personally, I wish the option had never been invented!
To quote and reinforce Teylyns' words
For "prone" read "Guaranteed"........shared workbooks are extremely unstable, can freeze up any time and are prone to lose data......
