copy variable amount of rows from a sheet to another and extract columns from them

    Hi everyone,
I want to copy a variable amount of rows from a sheet to another and extract columns from them. I reckon I could start choosing the rows manually and then launch the macro. (Perhaps implement a search function later.) For example in the case below I would like to copy all columns B,C,D and J to another sheet and have them pasted at a position i wish to choose manually and paste them in a different column order. How can I achieve this? Any ideas? Cheers

    A B C D E F G H I J

    Hi,

Data Filter Advanced is one option. Make sure you have column labels in the first row of your data, then in the destination sheet just add the column labels in whatever order you want and use Data Filter Advanced to extract the original columns to the target columns.

The other way would be to simply copy all the data exactly as it is, then in a row above the copied data enter the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 etc. above the column you want to be 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. Then just select the whole of the data and use the Sort option to sort by columns rather than the more usual sort by rows.

This sorting by columns is a feature that I suspect many people don't know exists.
