    Attendance Log

I am trying to create an attendance log that I can copy a list of students into one worksheet and it give me an X next to their name on another worksheet. I have tried everything. I am still somewhat new to Excel but feel semi confident. Any help would be great. More details can be provided, just ask. Thanks everyone.

    Re: Attendance Log

    You mean?

    =IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(A2,'SHEET1'!A:A,0)),"X","")

This looks for a match to A2 of the current sheet and tries to find it in column A of sheet named Sheet1... if it finds it, an "X" is placed in the cell containing the formula, else it leaves it "blank".

You can copy down the formula after you adjusted ranges, references and sheetname.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
