Counting non-duplicate data in two columns

I have a huge list of courses and am looking for a way to count how many courses we offered.

    Column A = Subject
    Column B = Course Number
    Column C = Section Number

    Example:
    Biol 100 001
    Biol 100 002
    Biol 101 001
    Biol 101 002
    Chem 100 001

The answer i'm looking for is 3 (Biol 100, Biol 101 & Chem 200), I don't want to count the sections.
