validation in 2003

Hi,

Pls anybody revert on the below issues..

1. When i try to validate columns with list created in the other work sheets it says "data cannot be validated from other work sheets".

2. i want create a formula in the following manner is it possible pls advise.
say one cell contain text & another cell contains a numeric value, based on this two criteria the third cell should able to take the predetermined values from set...
to elaborate below is the example..

A1=mg k 2
B1=100
C1=(it should assign the value of 1000, from the set of values-500, 1000, 1500, 2000, etc)

If you name the range you want to use for validatation, then you can refer to it from another sheet.

1/. Highlight the range you want to use as a validation list.
2/. Names > Define > Name:= "Data" (your meaningfull name) > press Okay
3/. Select the cells you want to validate
4/. Data Validation > Allow:= List ... Source:= =Data (not in quotes)

I don't understand the second part of your question.
