    sorting more than three columns

How can one sort more than three columns of data. Using the "data" drop down box it only shows that 3 columns can be sorted (such as A, B, C). I need to sort columns in the following order A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, etc. OR H, G, F, E, D, C, B, A.....

    Thanks,

    I need to sort columns in the following order A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H,
Sort by F-G-H, then by C-D-E, then by A-B.

In general, sort from right to left in groups of three.

Re: sorting more than three columns

Would I do that using the Data sort drop down menu and specify different groups of 3 or can I specify more than 3 at a time using the drop down sort menu?

If you're using Excel 2003- (suggested by your question, but not by your profile), you can only do three at a time.

If you're using Excel 2007+, you can sort by as many columns as you like.

Also, I need to keep the rows of data intact (to prevent scrambling of the data) so I highlight up to 10+ columns at time to keep the database data in proper order. Am I still able to then sort different sets of three so that I would esentially have say 6 or 9 columns sorted?

You must always sort all of your data unless you want it scrambled.
