I know how to find duplicate cells by using conditional formatting

Is there a way to only search characters 3 to 6 in a string to find duplicates, not the whole text?

    Something like this:

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(MID($A$1:$A$1000,3,4)=A5))

You can't use full column references in Sumproduct in Excel 2003.

Use code tags when posting your VBA code:
Your code here
