highlight row based on single cell

I am wanting to highlight an entire row based on the contents in column U. I want the entire row to highlight if there is anything at all entered in the cell in column U, and remain blank if the cell is empty.

    Help?

Select all the columns to affect, then go invoke Conditional Formatting, select Use a formula to determine which cells to format and enter formula:

=$U1<>"" (where U1 coincides with topmost row selected in your range)

Click Format and choose the colour scheme.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
