Counting the total number of symbols or characters in multiple rows

Hi,

I need help on whether the following counting can be formulate. Couldn't find any clue from existing post similar to the below-mentioned.

Example I have the following table which I need to set a formula to perform counting of total numbers of "X" and "A":


Red Blue Orange Yellow White Purple
Mon X X A X

Tue X X X A

Wed X X X A

Thu X X X A

Fri X A X X
______________________________________________

Total X 4 2 3 2 3 1
Total A 0 0 1 1 2 1
