Question Comparing grades and using conditional formatting

Hi, I have what I thought was a simple problem but can't figure out how to do it! Sorry I'm a bit of a noob...

Basically, I have student data: their grade, and their target grade. I would like to traffic light their grade so if they are above target, their "grade" cell contains their grade and is highlighted green. Similarly on target, orange and below target, red.

I realised I would have to convert grades to numbers so have done so with a lookup table. I have also easily traffic lighted (traffic lit?) the number difference between the the two grades. What I really want though is the GRADE (column C) to automatically be traffic lit depending on its relationship to the target but this doesn't seem straightforward - I can't even just copy "G" and paste special formatting in "C"...

I have attached a basic version of the spreadsheet, any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Simon

I can't figure out how to do what you are asking, but if you change the text font color of column G to white, you can make the column look like it only has the traffic lights. Then if you put it next to column C, you can make it look like what you are asking for. The header is formatted as center across selection. See example.

There's an option on the CF Traffic Lights to only display the icon.
