Pull info and Numbers from separate worksheets via keyword

    HI all

My first post, I have been lurking for a while and now i am stuck with a particular formula..

I am not an completely dumb around excel but neither am i an expert.. could any one help with the following scenario? (not sure excel can even achieve it)

    I have a document with 2 worksheets.

On sheet 1 I have a summary page with the following content titles

REF DETAILS QUANTITY PRICE PER UNIT TOTAL NET

    all blank, waiting for content.

on sheet 2 the content is being generated by staff, with he following titles and content

REF DETAIL UNIT PRICE PER UNIT SUBTOTAL MARK-UP TOTAL NET

Sheet 2 is a long list of various REF names and prices etc, so the content does not flow top to bottom, it could be line 6, line 20 , line 23 etc in no order.
so ref would be "SBC1" or "MM1" or "LB1", detail would be "SBC did this today" and so on.

Now to the question, as you can see (kind of) the REF has many variables on the long list, when a user enters the details of a task on sheet 2, say on line 6 could i make this appear on line 1 of sheet 1 just by typing SBC1 on line 1 of sheet 1?

Kind of like a key word, so when ever i type SBC1 in column 1 line 1 excel will pull the info from sheet 2.

So on sheet 2 I may have data on line 20 with a REF of MM1, on the sheet one i want to type MM1 in column 1 line 2 and have the info pulled in...

As i read back this thread i can see its gibberish.. hopefully someone can understand my waffling and lend a hand

    Thanks all

I think I understand what you are trying to say. Can you provide some actual data in a worksheet.

    Thanks
