    Want a Singular/Plural + Proper Comma Format?

    Want a Singular/Plural + Proper Comma Format?

    Dear Forum,

With the help of the Forum, I have been able to get Singular / Plural Format but within the same format I needed to show the Number with Proper Commas such as below :1,23,456.00 Sq Fts.
    OR
    1 Sq Ft.

    The Format being used is

But in this format I do not get the Decimal Place numbering..and also I need to get it with and without the decimal places such as below:
1,23,456.00 Sq Fts. 1,23,456 Sq Fts.

    Warm Regards

Re: Want a Singular/Plural + Proper Comma Format?

You don't normally say "Fts" plural as opposed to "Ft" singular.

The singular, 1 Foot, would be 1 Ft
The plural, 20 Feet, for example, would be 20 Ft.

Foot, Feet, both are represented by "Ft"

    Problem solved. ;-)

Yeah I know that TMShucks that for Feet and Foot it sounds and spells almost the same and creates ambiguity however I use this format often for different Units like Meter and Meters as well ..

Though you pointed out correctly but the main idea here is to get the Plural for any Unit alongwith the Proper Commas..

So That it can be read as a 1,234 as one Thousand Two hundred and Thirty Four Feet mentally with the aid of the formulas.

    Sq. Fts ???????????????????????

    Come on!

Which units of measure use a plural form in their abbreviation? Not metres, miles, kilometres, kilograms, degrees, pounds, grams

    1 m
    100 m

    1 km
    2000 km

    1 kg
    20 kg

    1 deg
    360 deg

    1 lb
    50 lb

    1 g
    22 g

What is the issue? Seems to me like a lack of understanding of grammar rather than anything else.

Re: Want a Singular/Plural + Proper Comma Format?

    Dear Forum,

@ quekbc- Thanks a lot for the Format..

I understand it may not be such a big issue but it definitely becomes useful for other things, which we would like to describe..

Let say if we want to say Day(s), Month(s) and Year(s) in most of the Finance Related Files..

May be in the present example it did not make a big difference but since I used the Singular/Plural Formats I thought of having it combined with the Commas ..

You can use something like: ="Day"&IF(A1>1, "s", "")

Re: Want a Singular/Plural + Proper Comma Format?

    No Zbor,

I migrated from that formula to a number format as this is more convenient to use as it can be copied..

One thing I learnt from QUEBEK's solution is that..

We can combine bot the Functionalities of the Commas and the One-Many

    Thanks..

Re: Want a Singular/Plural + Proper Comma Format?

    Dear TM Shucks and Tevelyn,

I respect your opinion and completely agree that its very improper to say Fts , not only does it sound incorrect but is also un-grammatical ..

But this functionality is useful for other variable units as mentioned..so I will be using it preciously..

    Thanks for all the help..

    Warm Regards
