    combining 2 cells to 1 with date

    I am combining information from two different cells to one cell using cell reference such as,(=B4&"/"&F5),B4 being a number and F5 the date.
    So my question is how to get the date to show as a date value and still have the other value remain unchanged. I have tried to use formating but will not work to keep the date. An example would be

    Try something like:

    =B4&"/"&TEXT(F5,"mm/dd/yy")

    adjust the format within TEXT to your liking...

    This works. However, my month is in "JAN" format. Can it convert it to a number "1" at the same time?
