Month and Year Function not Acting as Expected

Ive been experiancing an unusual issue regarding the Month and Year function in Excel '07.

In the attached example, cell K2 has a formated date. In L2 I want to extract the month using Month(K2) and in cell M2 Im attempting to extract the year using Year(K2) (shown in example.

In both cases I receive the incorrect result, 1/11/1900 and 7/3/1905 respectfully.

Are there any suggestions of what Im doing incorrectly? Its not like this is the first time Ive used these functions, just the first time Im seeing this issue. (Maybe ist an age issue HA!)

The formula is working OK but you have columns L and M formatted as dates, so 11 formatted as a date is 11-Jan 1900 (because Excel counts days from 1/1/1900), similarly for year

Format columns L and M as general
