    Hi mills01,

See my pictures for how to insert a checkbox. First you must click on the Insert button and then choose from either form controls or activeX controls.

Right click one of the buttons on your ribbon and then click Customize Ribbon....
On the right side of the window that pops up you'll see an unchecked "Developer". Check it and then click OK. The developer tab should now be there.

to enable the Developer tab click on the 'Office Orb' and go to Excel Options, and on the first page there is a check box for "Show Developer tab in the Ribbon" select this option and click on OK

Re: Worksheet Function. Set up for a tick box

Hi DGagnon, is that something that is exclusive to 2007? At home I have 2010 and at work I have 2007 but I haven't observed that difference between the two. I know that 2010 doesn't have the orb.

If data validation suffices your requirement then this is the way. See the attachement.

Re: Worksheet Function. Set up for a tick box

I havent personaly used Office 2010 as of yet, but i was trying to right click on the ribbon and it gave me the option to customize the quick access toolbar and not the ribbon, so i would have to assume it was a feature change between the 2 versions.

Re: Worksheet Function. Set up for a tick box

Thanks for clarifying that for the OP and me! I'm going to have to pay closer attention to the differences between 2007 and 2010.

Re: Worksheet Function. Set up for a tick box

Hi mills01, perhaps you should upload a workbook with mock data in it with a before and after scenario of your requirements. It will help us to help you figure out exactly what you want.

To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'.
To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'.
Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments.

You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page.
Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file.

To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page.
Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

I do not know if this has something to do with your OS. I am using a PC and Office 2007. Awaiting a reply from others.

What are your regional settings - particularly keyboard layout and language?
    Good luck.

Re: Worksheet Function. Set up for a tick box

I'm baffled by this as well. While I cannot access the square root symbol using the alt code, if I type charmap into command prompt and then scroll down I'll see it there and can copy and paste from the character map window.

My keyboard language is US. I've toggled it to Canadian French and Canadian Multilingual Standard and still get a different input from alt 251.

What I found now is, we get the small 1 when the Regional and Language Options -> Advanced -> Language for non-Unicode programs is not English[United States]
