    counting format variations

I have just received the error message telling me I've too many formats (believe the limit is 4000) and the workbook has frozen. To help me identify where the problem lies (within the 35 worksheets in my workbook) is there anything that can tell me how many formats each worksheet has used?

Thanks - that's a useful article but doesn't cover finding where all the offending formatting lies. I don't want to use the clean-up tool becuase I do want some formatting in the workbook.

I don't think some formatting is more offending than others.
Make a copy of your book and remove the less necessary formatting and see if it helps.

Perhaps Rule 3 of this whitepaper will guide you
