Linking unique data entry between worksheets

    Hi,

    I have two worksheets.

worksheet 1 is a register of items and their maintenance schedule, each item has a unique serial number that is displayed in COLUMN F. When an item requires maintenance it is taken out of use and COLUMN AF will display it's status ie, FF (Fully Functional) XX (Do Not Use) RU (Restricted Use) for others to view.

worksheet 2 is a maintenance register, when an item requires maintenance it is registered on this worksheet 2 so I can keep track of what is away or unable to be used until repaired. The unique serial number is entered in COLUMN G and the status in entered in COLUMN J.

when I enter the maintenance request on worksheet 2 I want the serial number entered in COLUMN G to find the item/serial number on worksheet 1 COLUMN F, then when I enter the status on worksheet 2 COLUMN J for that serial number, I want it to change the Status in worksheet 1 COLUMN AF automatically.

    Can this be done?

That can probably be done with worksheet formulas.

Click GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to post up a copy of your workbook. Make sure the workbook demonstrates your desired results if possible, or just highlight the cells you're trying to fix. Use BEFORE/AFTER sheets if that helps make it clearer.
