Populating following columns based on selection from a drop down box

I have a data base consisting of several columns (for sorting purposes, ie mill, city, state, distance, %value), the information is static. The mill is the operative information and I want to select a mill from a drop down list and have the information associated with the mill populate just as it is in the database, this is for reporting purposes. The data for the drop down list is on one sheet and my report is on another.

I know I have several options, some seem more cumbersome than others, but am not well versed enough to discern how I might best achieve the result I need.

If you would be so kind as to offer direction, I would really appreciate the help. Let me know if you need clarity in my description of what I need.

    Thanks.

    Pam

I have attached the spreadsheet, I believe I need a drop down for MILL("WS TEMPLATE- SAVE AS BEFORE USE"sheet)=to col A from the "ref-material" sheet (this I can manage). Then I need the info Distance, Pre, Post from the "ref-material" sheet to populate the next columns on "WS TEMPLATE- SAVE AS BEFORE USE sheet labeled Dist % Pre % Post" (this I am trying to manage w/a combined IF VLookup).

Thank you for your comment and review.

    Hi Pam,

There are lots of information.. Please help me to locate the data sheet and the sheet where you have the drop downs....i.e, where you'll select Mill - just two things I need to know.. thanks.

WS TEMPLATE- SAVE AS BEFORE USE" sheet will contain drop down boxes, the "ref-material" sheet is the data sheet.

I thank you for your tiime.

Re: Populating following columns based on selection from a drop down box

    Thanks.
    * Index(Area,RowNo,ColumnNo) - The Index formula is like a matrix lookup, where it looks up the x-y position in the Area.
    * IfError(...,"") - if it finds an error it shows ""=blank instead of the error. Some people don't like this part, since it removes both unimportant and important errors. You can choose to remove this part if you like.
Also, you may want to replace cell M13 with =SUMIF(M2:M11;">0")
    I hope it helped.

And, please mark the solution as 'solved' when you're happy.
