Can't use two drop downs to determine what's in another field with my IF statement

    Hello,

I'm trying to use two drop downs with the number of students in one, and the number of classes in another, to determine what their monthly tuition and fees would be.

I've created a table with the costs. I did an IF statement that works as long as "1" is always selected in the first drop down. If I select "2" in the first drop down, the cell shows "FALSE." Here's a sample of the formula:

I'd love to be able to show the costs in one cell for September, for example, based on both the number of students and the number of classes. I've attached the spreadsheet as well. I'm really not the greatest with excel. Hopefully this has an easy solution. Anyone have suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Put this formula in E2:

and copy it down to E10.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

EDIT: Oh, by the way, you need to ensure that you have a space either side of "and" in each of the cells on row 7.

Thank you so much. I've got no clue how that formula works but it does and I couldn't be happier. -- I'll be doing a little homework and trying to figure out how it all works so I can do it on my own in the future. Again, thank you very much.
