Formula to count grade

The following grade is displayed in row A1 ABBACBDDC. Each letter is in one cell. Is there a formula to count the grades and return the result as follows: 2(A)3(B)2(C)2(D). Appreciate some help. Thanks

Thanks so much for the reply. However it was not quite what I wanted as the grades I referred were in different cells. I was wondering whether there is a formula to count the grades and return the result as in cell K3 of the attached worksheet. Regards

Hi again,

I got a little carried away with the formula you posted in response to my query. I was a bit too excited and thought my problem was solved. There is one small glitch though. How do I get the formula to remove or not to display the grade with zero value as shown in cell K3 of the attached worksheet. The grade is ranged from A to D. Greatly appreciate your help.
