Date format confusing Excel

Good afternoon All

Ihave a bit of a weird one I think and i believe it is something to with the format that the cell is in
below is the cells as "show formula" and below the results

A B C3
3) ="27/06/2012 14:57" ="06/07/2012 15:00" =IF(B3>=A3,"OK","weird")

27/06/2012 14:57 06/07/2012 15:00 weird


how can the date in B3 be smaller than A3???

B3 is formatted as mm/dd/yyyy?

The dates are possibly in text format, does this work?

=IF(B3+0>=A3+0,"OK","weird")
