Adding together true results in if statements.

Hello, having a little bit of trouble with if statements with Excel, if anyone could help, i would highly appreciate it.

Attached is a screenshot of some costs i was calculating for switching to a new phone provider, and i am looking to create an excel file that updates itself, but i am having difficulty figuring out how to execute the if function in the way i want it to. I'll explain.

I have it set up so that if i write YES, into the G columns, then $40 will appear and then update the tax and yearly costs.

In the screenshot, for K7, I want to be able to go through all those columns, and count the number of YES's in the G series. In here, there are 38 Yes's, so K7 should say 38. If i switch one to No, then it should update to 37 and so on and so forth. if i have missed any info, then i would be happy to reply.

A picture may paint a thousand words but it's pretty useless when it comes to fixing Excel problems.

That said, you should be able to use COUNTIF to count the Yes values: =COUNTIF(G:G,"YES")

If that doesn't answer the question, please post a sample workbook.

I'm sorry, I'm in a workplace with an older version of excel, Countif doesn't seem to be a command in this edition.

How old? Your profile indicates 2003; it's in there. I'm not aware of any version of Excel that doesn't have COUNTIF though, realistically, I can't remember further back than '97.

    Please don't quote whole posts.

    Pleas post a sample workbook.

@Ace_XL: I don't believe it wasn't there but I can't test it because I no longer have Excel '97 on any of my computers. I have seen questions in other forums about setting up a COUNTIF in Excel 97.

If I try to Google it, most references no longer exist.

@Marco95: Have you actually tried: =COUNTIF(G:G,"YES")

Have to see if I've still got any books.
