    Smile Material cut-off list

    Hey everyone,

I have a little experience in excel and I hope I can explain this. I would like to write a formula for a material cut off list that will round up to the nearest increment of the next available stock size. If I have a plate thickness of .420 I want it to pick .5 for the size. The standard sizes are anything under an inch are incremented by an 1/8 (.125) and anything above an 1.00 increments by 1/4 (.250) Any help would be great.
I think as long as I have that formula I think I can do the rest, I hope. LOL
    Here is a sample.

    Thanks

That was what i had but for some reason when i have the -1 (greater then) it fails. But if i change it to 1 (less then) it will work, but it rounds down. Any idea why?

I have attached my file and have it highlighted in red

    Thanks

    Re: Material cut-off list

    Hello
You have to sort the list largest to smallest, as I mentioned, otherwise the -1 doesn't work. See reply attachment. Does this work?

Sorry had to work in the shop for awhile, finally have sometime to work on it. Looks like it will work but it looks like it will not update the way i was hoping it would work in the application I have it in. I will keep at it.
