Conditional Formatting with If/then

Morning All,

I have a spreadsheet that manages the due dates of action items. I use a three color system: yellow = pending, green = complete, and red = overdue. I want these cells to do the following:

If past a certain date turn red and stay red until I manually turn it green.

But if I have turned the cell green prior to the due date, I do not want the cell to turn red.

Any help would be great!
