    IF formula with missing data

    Hi,

I am sorting through some data and need to code values into either 1 or 0 in a new column based on where the values are placed on a scale. IE - say there is a scale of 1-20 measuring something....anything under 10 is 1, anything over 10 is 0. My issue is that my NA cells (missing data) are being converted to 0 -->this is skewing my data. I need the cells to go blank. I can modify the NA's to blank before trying the formula if that helps - I have no problem doing that. I just need these cells to end up blank.

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Assume those values are in column F, beginning in F2. You can use a formula like this in another cell on row 2:

    =IF(F2="","",IF(F2<10,1,0))

    Then copy down.

    Hope this helps.
