    [Solved] "If" Statement Regarding Months/Years

    Hi, just a quick question:

    Column A has the year (ie. 2010, 2011, 2012)
Column B has the month (ie. May, June, July)

I created a new column C with "program year".

I need a formula for column C that says, if the month in column B is October, November, or December, then the year (ex: 2010) would have to move up one year (ex: to 2011).

    Thank you!

Please read or re-read the forum rules (about thread titles).

    =IF(OR(B2="October", B2="November", B2="December"), A2+1, A2)

    Re: Formula Help

    2010 January
    2011 February
    2012 February
    2010 April
    2010 December
    2010 November
    2010 October
    2011 April
    2011 December
    2011 November
    2011 October
    2010 December

The first column is the calendar year, second is the month.
I would need to add a column (program year) in which the last four lines' year would change to 2011, while the other lines are the same.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi william,

Not sure what is wrong with this time.

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

    Hello William

    Thanks for the rep

Strictly speaking, I should not answer questions if the rules are breached. For simple questions, it seems a shame to drag things out.

But, to do us both a favour, please update your thread title this time rather than just next.

    Regards, TMS
