Formula not calculating correctly

Can anyone help? I have 2 seperate spreadhseets in 2003 and I have created a formula in 1 to look at the other spreadsheet and count how many times a persons name appears against one month. As I have no countifs in 2003 someone helped me with a sum product formula which I must admit I have never used before.

The formula appears to have worked for each individual apart from 1 person where for 2 months it is calculating the wrong figure. I have attached the spreadsheets and highlighted the figures in bold that are wrong. In the totals spreadhseet there is a person called Emma EGC and for May it has calculated her name appears 15 times from the people spreadsheet when it appears 16 times and in June it has calculated 17 when it should be 18, I only noticed this because I knew the grand total at the bottom should be 75 . (I have filtered the people spreadsheet to show just EGC)

Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong and why it wont calculate correctly.

thank you! thank you! I was about to give up and try re-typing it all. Is there a quick way of looking if a space appears after text? other than using f2 in each cell?

do a text to columns
select the letters (ABX, all the way down). Go to the Data ribbon. click Text to columns. check all the delimiters. click finish
