I am doing sports analysis for a football team and I am trying to find different play calling trends and effectiveness based on several criteria such as "Yards to go", "Down", "Offensive Formation", "Run or Pass", etc. So I have a huge list of plays that were called and the context of the play such as down, distance, formation, offensive personnel, success or no success, etc. You can imagine the top row showing headlines such as Name of the play, distance to go, formation, run or pass, etc, then the rows of the spreadsheet being the plays.

My question is how can I develop a formula in Excel to COUNT how many plays fall under multiple conditions, such as "If play is on 1st down (1,2,3,4), then is in the Goaline formation (Goaline, I, Far), then has this offensive personnel (A, T, B, S) then is a run play (Run or Pass), then is successful (Success 1, Not Success 0)"? I would like to create bunch of these COUNTING formulas so I don't have to go through all of the data manually.

Let me know if you don't understand exactly what I'm asking.
