Question Determing point score for specific gender?

    Hi People,

Basically I have been asked to find out the difference in scores between male and female test participants and display the results in a table.

I would much prefer to use a formula to draw from the data and calculate an output then have to manually do it, as this would be very time consuming and prone to human error.

Participants can score between 1-9 in whole number increments. I have a column (F) stating the gender of each participant. This is identified by a capital F or M (Female, Male)

Column J displays the results of the test with a range of 1-9. For example, 1, 3, 5 , 9 etc

In a separate table, I would like to display how many males scored 1. On the next row, how many males scored 2 etc.

I want to then repeat this for females.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Set up a table which has 1, 2, 3 etc on different rows with M and F in a header row for the next two columns, then you can either use COUNTIFS or SUMPRODUCT to get your counts.

    Hope this helps.

Indeed that would seem logical. Alas I am stuck using the layout provided at the preference of colleagues. The data has already been inputed into the table i spoke of on the primary sheet.

There are two more sheets named Male and Female. Each of these has a table with two columns and 9 rows. The first column serves to label the points 1-9, 1 number per row. The second column is for inputing how many participants scored that value.

    Sorry if thats confusing,

    Thanks

Can you post an example workbook (sanitise the names first - child_1, child_2 etc). I can't quite visualise your setup.

My post #4 doesn't seem to appear on the New Posts list, and I did get an error message when I submitted it, so you may not have got an email notification - I'm just adding this to make you aware of it.
