Linking a main sheet to other tabs within worksheet?

    Hi,

Im not sure how or if i can do this but basically this is what i am looking to do .....

I am creating an asset spreadsheet that shows assets (items) that each employee has. I want to keep the front main sheet as basic as i can, in that i would like simply Yes or No under the items to state if a person has them.

What i would then like is to be able to click the Yes or No cell and it to take me to the more indepth information on that particular item in another tab with in the work sheet?

ie: Mr 'Test Name 1' has a laptop, i would like to click cell E8 and it then take me to Laptop Tab with further information? OR open up a new sheet with information pulled from the laptop tab (similar to how pivot tables pull the information)

I have attached the sheet template where the ie example can be performed.

Thanks again this will be a massive help.

    Hi LDouble3,

You can use the hyperlink function in Excel to achieve this. Right-click on the cell you want to place the hyperlink IN, select Hyperlink, then select the page/tab you want the link to point TO.

Have a look at my example, you'll see this is quite straightforward.

BB1972 - will i therefore need to link each cell to the exact row in a different tab?

Can i not action this so that it refers to the name and when i click yes it takes me to the named employee

OR when i click yes it pulls the info from the other tab and opens it up in a new tab with the information needed

No, but if you use the hyperlink function to do what you asked about doing: "What i would then like is to be able to click the Yes or No cell and it to take me to the more indepth information on that particular item in another tab with in the work sheet?" then you of course need to tell the Yes or No cell that you're clicking on where it should look/point to. You can just point it to a particular TAB if that suits your needs, or...

... yes, you can have the link point to a specific cell on a chosen tab - you just have to tell Excel what cell reference you want the hyperlink to link to.
