Excel Function that differentiates "male" from "female" names with 900+ names

I need a formula that separates "male" from "female" names on a spreadsheet with 900+ names for a mailing list. I fully understand that there is probably not a 100% foolproof formula, but something that will help me so that I don't have to go through each and every name and sort them out individually.

    Thanks

What is your logic that you would use if you were to explain in simple English how you would want to do this. How would you distinguish between the Genders? Do you have a key in your spreadsheet? And then how would you distinguish these names: Kelly, Lee, Morgan, Carol, Shawn, etc. We need some more information here.

Make a seperated list with the names you have many times in your list.

Then you can use vlookup to fill the original data (in a adjecting column)
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

I'm just starting this project. No keys yet. I'm not concerned so much with gender neutral names such as Kelly, Lee, Morgan. Those I can go through later and clean up. There are only a fraction of those in the 900 names I have. I just want to differentiate the obvious names such as Richard and Rosie as male and female names.

with that many names, you are bound to have many duplicates. i would suggest you start by creating a list of unique names, seperate those into m/f, and then use vlookup() in your original table to find the m/f's
