I have a spreadsheet with 1000 rows of data. I need to update only 90 of them with a vlookup. Can I combine an IF and Vlookup combo so that those 90 rows are updated, but the other 900 do not return N/A values and keep their original values? How do I do that?
If(your condition, vlookup, original value). You can try based on this structure.
hi HC14123, welcome to the forum. you can replace the bold part with your own VLOOKUP formula:
for Excel 2003 & below:
=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(A1,F1:G5,2,0)),"",VLOOKUP(A1,F1:G5,2,0))
for Excel 2007 & above:
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A1,F1:G5,2,0),"")
if this file is solely for yourself without needing to send to others & you are using Excel 2007, then go ahead with the 2nd one
