Lookup specific text

Hi,

I am trying to create an hours and pay sheet for an assignment

Please refer to this image:

What I am trying to do is create a lookup so that the pay section to the right can relate to any hours worked on the hours section to the left
For example I am wanting to work out the pay of any hours worked on night shifts. (There is a premium for nights and sundays) In Cell L3 I am trying to create a VLOOKUP to copy the hours across from C6.
In Cell L3 for the Sunday premium I have forumla =VLOOKUP("sun",B2:C6,2), which seems to be working
For nights I am trying to use the wildcard function like this =VLOOKUP("*"&ngt&"*",B2:C6,2) so that in can find any cells with 'ngt' in and add up the associated hours. This doesn't work

can anyone help please?

Why don,t you upload a sample worksheet with dummy data instead of a picture.

Hi Ben. It's kind of difficult to use a picture. Can you upload an example workbook minus any data you don't want to be seen?
