Look at master list and grab rows that contain x value

    Hi.

I have a master list and then several worksheets that contain the same data but only the data that matches certain criteria.

How can I automate this process, using a formula to look at the master list and grab all rows that have a certain value in column C.

    Thanks.

    Hi

Can you upload a small sample workbook?

Re: Look at master list and grab rows that contain x value

Sorry i can't link a sample sheet, but i hope the question should be clear enough for an answer.

To create a none physical example i will give you exact cells and values to make it easier to visualise.

Sheet 1 column A is an ascending number going up with each row, down to row 400.
Sheet 1 column E is a value that defines the group. This could be "Blue" or "Red" or "Pink"

I wish a forumla to look through sheet 1 and every time there is a "Blue" in column E, it will take that row and place it a copy in sheet 2. Every time it sees "Red" in column E it will take that row and place a copy in sheet 3.

Re: Look at master list and grab rows that contain x value

Hi, will upload an example sheet from home tonight if there is no response until then. I'd appreciate if anyone could have a go without requiring an example sheet though.

    Have provided another simple explanation:
I have a master list of people that have values such as name, which team they belong to, what grade they are etc…
I want a formula to look at this list and sort people into separate worksheets by their team.

For example, if row 26 and row 32 from the master list are both team 1 I want the formula to copy these rows and place them as row 1 and 2 in another worksheet.

    Hi

Your request is almost clear and we can give you solution, but as rule 13 of the forum rules says"

Post a WORKBOOK. Nobody wants to type data from a picture or paste text from your post into a spreadsheet as a prelude to helping. To attach a file, push the button with the paperclip (or scroll down to the Manage Attachments button), browse to the required file, and then push the Upload button.

Hi Fotis, appreciate that. I am physically incapable of uploading a worksheet from work otherwise I would have done so already.

I will be home in about 6 hours and will upload a file then, alternatively I could email yourself the example file now if you're eager to help?

Thanks very much for the help.
