Reference a column of numbers in another worksheet all at once

    Hello,
Trying to create a column in a worksheet that will reference numbers in a column in another worksheet (all exact same row numbering). I can do it one at a time but I have lots of rows. I get a formula like April2012'!$c$8 when I reference the first cell but can't copy it down the column unless I eliminate the second $. It's Excel 2000.
    thx!

    Yes, your formula should be:

    =April2012'!C8

Then when you copy this down the 8 will change to 9, 10, 11 etc, so that it brings data from successive rows. The $ symbol in front of the 8 prevents it from changing, so you will always get data from cell C8.

I've also removed the $ symbol in front of the C, so if you copy the formula across the sheet then the C will change to D, E, F etc, and thus will bring data from successive columns.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

Thanks Pete. My formula should be what you wrote, but it automatically puts the $ in there when I reference the cell and I have to take it out before I can copy down the column. Don't know why it's putting it in there.
    thx!

These sheets are linked with a couple of other sheets and I've copied 2012 and named it 2013, so I'm sure it has something to do with saving them--.
