Generating daily and montly averages from hourly data

    Hi all,

I found a previous thread on the forum about the same problem but haven't been able to fix my problem...

I'm looking at temperature data which are recorded on an hourly basis. The data covers approx. 2 years. I would like to simplify the dataset by creating daily and monthly temperature averages rather than hourly. I also would like to work with less data in order to create a series of charts... The timestamp values are in the following format:dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ss (showing as custom category, not time or date...).

Attached is the data from one of my temperature probes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your time,

    Olivier

Re: Generating daily and montly averages from hourly data

I suggest you to use pivot table since it will be much more faster for huge data.

Refer the attached file for solution.

    Hope this helps!

see if the attached gives you what you need?

i had to delete a few '000 rows to get the file to upload, but if you look at what i did in Columns C G, H, J and K, im sure you will be able to finish it off as needed

let me know how you make out
