    Counting duplicates once

    Hello,

I am looking for a formula that would count duplicates only once using data in two corresponding columns. One column contains numeric data and the other has text data. In the example below, I want to count the number times Ticket Code "M" in Column B occurs with the same Ticket # in Column A. In this example: Ticket Code M with Ticket #523 should be counted as 1 only and Ticket Code M with Ticket# 526 should be counted as 1 only, for an grand total count of 2.

    Column A (ticket #)
    Row 1: 523
    Row 2: 523
    Row 3: 524
    Row 4: 525
    Row 5: 526
    Row 6: 526
    Row 7: 526

    Column B (unique ticket code)
    Row 1: M
    Row 2: M
    Row 3: S
    Row 4: T
    Row 5: M
    Row 6: M
    Row 7: M

Thank you in advance for your help.

You can use the PivotTable feature.

There are formula solutions as well I think. They are too advanced for me but the only solution that updates instantaneously.

The pivottable needs a rightclick and choose refresh.
